A supplementary grant scheme announced by AgriFI Kenya Challenge Fund to support businesses responding to challenges relating to the coronavirus pandemic has resulted in the award of grant aid to two businesses.
A COVID-19 response and recovery call, which was announced to assist businesses that had been adversely affected by the pandemic and consequent business restrictions.
AgriFI Kenya approved funding to two businesses that lodged submissions in response to the call, and awarded a total of over €600,000 (81m KS) to these companies.
The recipients of the grants are Bulto Suppliers and Transport Ltd, a logistics company that distributes therapeutic foods and medical equipment, and Instaveg Ltd, which aggregates and packes vegetables for export to European markets.
The announcement followed AgriFI Kenya Challenge Fund announcing awards totaling more than €10M (KE$ 1.3bn) to 12 businesses, in a second round of grants awarded to strengthen markets and boost agri-business job creation in the country.
