Beecare Apiaries International

The project

With support from AgriFI, Beecare Apiaries International is:

  • Adopting modern honey production technology which is increasing honey productivity per hive from 4Kg to 10Kg.
  • The project is strengthening the extension unit for effective provision of the beekeeping training to women and youth in ASAL areas in apiary setting, colonization, bee forage, hive management and primary extraction. The project is building centres of excellence for demonstrating good production practices.
  • Providing starter kits for women and youth to promote adoption of the new technologies and to integrate them in commercial honey production. The starter kits contain hives, tools, protective clothing and extraction equipment.
  • The project is strengthening the existing beekeeping groups and cooperatives n the ASAL areas for improved service delivery to smallholders.
  • The project is establishing honey bulking centres and investing in mobile honey collectors to coordinate sourcing of the products in ASAL areas. It is investing in modern processing infrastructure at factory level and distribution system to targeted markets.
